Ecuador

My best friend and I decided that after High School we would travel somewhere epic, volunteer and learn something new. We chose to work with a local organization that works deep in the amazon basin of Ecuador. What could go wrong? Well nothing, and I mean nothing was what it was suppose to be but my life has been forever changed. We lived with a native community deep in the amazon  learning and understanding how they live including social impacts of colonization and the environmental impact from the oil industry. The community was not expecting us but welcomed us in and showed us the beauty of the jungle. We then travelled like the wild 18 year old girls we were and saw the country exploring every corner and encountering the craziest of dilemas, challenges and sicknesses. If you are interested, check out our video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b46K6XT9AHU

Spain

During summer breaks during most of my undergrad, I worked as an English as a Second Language Camp Counsellor in Spain. Teaching english, playing sports and games and having the most fun with our team of Canadian and Spanish monitors, these summers are filled with experiences I will never forget. Learning to surf, indulging in Spanish cuisine and making lifelong friendships is what made this not just a job to add to my resume but a life-changing adventure. These summers would always end with travel to other European destinations such as Italy and Portugal which were the cherry on top of a perfect summer.

India

My Granfather was born and raised in India so I always had a curiosity to go. He passed away when I was young, however, through distant family connections I found myself traveling solo to Bangalore, India. I swerved the hectic city streets on the back of motorcycles and visited several markets. I then travelled to the jungles of south India in Mudumalai National park where distant relatives run local jungle retreats, co-existing with nature. I will never forget the sounds of trumpeting elephants at night on the patio. Finally, I travelled to Allepey to explore the backwaters, enjoy temple festivals and hang out with fellow backpackers.

Central America

I have been fortunate enough to get out to various countries in Central America including Mexico, Belize and Costa Rica. I absolutely adore the latin music, great food and of course the ocean! Working on my surf skills, diving certifications or just hitting up the beach are some of my favourite things to do. Backpacker travel style mixed in with some conservation work, I have some great experiences here and met some amazing people along the way.

New Zealand

My childhood dream come true. Who doesn't have NZ on their bucket list? This trip was spent missioning up waterfalls with local explorer Brando Yelavich, bonding and learning from my entrepreneur boss lady friend Esbe Van Heerden and roadtripping the south island with complete strangers in their campervan. Nothing short of amazing to be able to explore the incredible outdoor playground that is New Zealand.
